Student & Parent Responsibilities
Student Responsibilities
- Arrive to class 10 minutes early to use the bathroom and put on appropriate footwear.
- Wear appropriate dance attire to class.
- Make sure dance clothing is clean and wear deodorant (as needed).
- Bring a water bottle to class.
- If you are more than 15 minutes late to class you will miss warm-up and will have to observe class.
- Be respectful of the other students in the studio by paying attention to the instructor and doing your best work.
Parent Responsibilities
- Review the “Student Responsibilities” requirements with your dancer.
- Be respectful of the time your student spends in class by arriving early and not interrupting during class.
- Encourage your student to do their best and have fun in class.
- If you have questions on the material being taught – please talk to the instructor either before or after class.
- Install Band App on a tablet or phone at home to stay up to date on announcements and practice videos.
- Set aside practice time each week for your student to review what they have learned in class.
- Please let the instructor know if your student needs to miss class or is sick via private message on Band App or in person.

- If your student has to participate on Zoom – please make sure they have an appropriate, distraction free place to take class. They must actively participate and not distract the dancers in the studio.
Dancewear Requirements
Dancers are required to wear appropriate dance attire to each class. This makes it easy for us to give corrections and allows students the ability to move freely.
BALLET
Girls
- Ballet leotard
- Pink ballet footed or convertible tights
- Pink ballet shoes
- Optional: Sheer ballet skirt (mid-thigh length at the longest)
- Class leotard and skirt for Parent Watch Day and Performances (provided by HDA)
- Hair must be pulled back in a ballet bun for class
Boys
- Form fitting athletic shirt
- Dance tights or capris – (use a dance belt with tights/capri’s)
- Black dance tights are required for Parent Watch Day and Performances
- Black Ballet shoes (they may choose to wear a thin sock with their ballet shoes)
- Class Shirt for Parent Watch Day and Performances (provided by HDA)
TAP
Black tap shoes, exercise shorts or leggings, t-shirt for regular classes.
Requirements for Parent Watch Day and End of Semester Performances:
Girls
- Black leggings
- Class T-shirt (provided by HDA)
- Hair pulled back into a bun
Boys
- Black pants (jeans or dress pants)
- Class T-Shirt (provided by HDA)
- Hair neatly combed and out of face
